Karbala is a city in Iraq, which is home to the shrine of Imam Husayn, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. It is a culturally significant city for Shi’a Muslims, and is famed for being the site of the Battle of Karbala in 680 A.D, when Imam Husayn and his family were martyred.
