This historic amphitheater, constructed in the 1st century AD by the Roman emperor Vespasian, served as the site for gladiatorial contests, dramas and spectacular battle re-enactments. Standing at a height of 48m, it is the largest amphitheater of the Roman Empire, built from concrete and stone.
