The Citadelle Laferriere is an ancient fortress located on the Northern coast of Haiti, built in 1805 to defend the former slaves of Haiti after their successful revolt to gain independence from France. This amazing fortress rests atop of massive stone walls that look like grand walls of a citadel, with a never ending path of old cannon balls alluding to its history of defence and protection.
