Serial Experiments Lain is a psychological anime written, directed and composed by the Kaisei Tsushin Group that was broadcast in 1998. The series follows the story of a middle school girl from Tokyo called Lain Iwakura and her journey into the Wired, an alternate reality where people possess superhuman capabilities. Through her journey, Lain comes to understand the true meaning of life, existence, and society at large.
