Wallpaper for Multi-Monitor Setups
Dual, triple, and ultrawide — pick wallpapers that work as one or three.
Two monitors with the same wallpaper? Boring. Two monitors with one image spanning both? Stunning when it works. Three monitors needs different rules. Here's the practical guide.
Two strategies — span or separate
Span
One wide image stretched across multiple monitors. Best for landscape photos, ultrawide-aspect art, and atmospheric scenes. Gets dramatic with two 27" or three 24" screens.
Use our dual-monitor splitter to take one image and prep it for span mode (handles the bezel offset).
Separate
Different image on each monitor, but matched palette. Better when monitors are different sizes or rotated (one portrait, one landscape).
Common monitor combinations
| Setup | Recommended wallpaper width |
|---|---|
| Dual 1080p (1920×2) | 3840 × 1080 spanned |
| Dual 1440p | 5120 × 1440 spanned |
| Triple 1080p | 5760 × 1080 spanned |
| Ultrawide 21:9 | 3440 × 1440 |
| Super-ultrawide 32:9 | 5120 × 1440 |
Where to find wide wallpapers

OS-specific setup
Windows 11
Right-click desktop → Personalize → Background → "Span" mode. Drop in your prepared spanned image.
macOS
System Settings → Wallpaper. Each display gets its own wallpaper from the picker. For span, pre-split the image and assign each half manually.
Linux (GNOME/KDE)
Both DEs support span natively in their display settings. Width = sum of monitor widths.
Bezel compensation
Monitor bezels create a "cut" in your spanned image. Two strategies:
- Pick wallpapers where the cut lands on uninteresting areas (sky, water, plain background)
- Use our splitter tool to offset the image — slight overlap that hides the bezel
