Process up to 200 images per job — pick your settings once, run them all.
Drop an image, get a sensible alt attribute written for it. The AI describes what's in the image — subject, action, setting — in the concise style screen readers handle well. Output is ready to paste into your HTML, CMS, or accessibility audit fix list.
Why alt text matters
Alt text serves two audiences: screen-reader users (it's read aloud when a sighted user would see the image) and search engines (Google ranks images partly by their alt). Missing or generic alt ("image", "photo", "1234.jpg") fails both. WCAG 2.1 Level A (the baseline accessibility standard) requires meaningful alt for every non-decorative image.
Hand-writing alt for hundreds of images is brutal. AI generation gets you 90% of the way, with the writer reviewing and tweaking the output rather than starting blank.
What a good alt text looks like
- Concise. 8–15 words. Screen readers don't pause for paragraphs.
- Subject first. "A red Labrador puppy" not "An image showing a red Labrador puppy".
- Includes context that matters. Setting, action, mood — only when it adds meaning.
- No "image of" or "picture of". The screen reader already announces it as an image.
Bulk generation
Premium accounts can paste a sitemap URL or upload a folder. We crawl/process each image and return a CSV of {image_url, generated_alt} pairs ready for your CMS bulk-update tool.
Verify against the page context
The AI describes what it sees, but the right alt depends on the surrounding context. A photo of a dog might warrant "Labrador playing fetch" on a pet-toy page but "Henry, our office mascot" on an about-us page. Always treat AI-generated alt as a draft. Frequently asked questions
Does it work in multiple languages?
Yes — pick your output language. We support English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, and more.
What about decorative images?
If an image is purely decorative, alt should be empty (alt=""). The AI flags candidates that look decorative.
Is the AI accurate?
For most photos: yes. Edge cases (highly conceptual or symbolic images) need human review.
Can it write longer descriptions?
Yes — pick 'long-form description' for blog body text. Default is concise alt.
What about SEO keywords?
Don't keyword-stuff alt — it hurts UX and search engines penalise. Write naturally; the AI does.
Maximum file size?
25 MB.
Bulk processing?
Premium supports batches and URL/sitemap crawling.
Are images private?
Yes — deleted within 24 hours.
