Why wallpaper sizing is its own thing
"Resize to 1920×1080" is straightforward; "make this look right as a wallpaper on every device" isn't. Different displays have wildly different aspect ratios — a 16:9 desktop, a 9:19.5 iPhone, a 21:9 ultrawide, a 3:4 iPad — and a single source image rarely fits all of them without losing important content.
Our wallpaper resizer combines normal resize with subject-aware crop: it resizes the image to your chosen wallpaper resolution AND chooses the crop area intelligently so the subject doesn't get chopped. The result is wallpaper-ready output, not just "an image that's now the right pixel dimensions".
The presets we ship
Desktop: Full HD (1920×1080), QHD (2560×1440), 4K (3840×2160), 5K (5120×2880).
Ultrawide: 21:9 (3440×1440), 32:9 super-ultrawide (5120×1440).
Phone: iPhone 14/15 (1170×2532), iPhone 14/15 Pro Max (1290×2796), older iPhones (1242×2208), Android (1080×2400 typical).
Tablet: iPad (2048×2732), iPad Pro 12.9" (2048×2732), Android tablet (1600×2560).
Smart watch: Apple Watch (410×502), Wear OS (390×390 typical).
Or punch in custom width and height for any device we don't have a preset for.
How to use it
- Drop your image. Best results on photos at least 2× the target resolution.
- Pick the preset matching your device (or punch in custom dimensions).
- Confirm the crop. The tool shows the proposed crop with the subject centred. Drag to adjust if needed.
- Download. Output JPG at the exact target resolution.
What about images that are too small?
If your source image is smaller than the target resolution (e.g. you have a 1500-wide photo and want 4K wallpaper at 3840), the resize will upscale it — which goes blurry. For those cases, run the result through our AI Upscaler first to bring the source up to a usable resolution, THEN drop into the wallpaper resizer.
For phone wallpapers from portrait-oriented photos, the source-to-target conversion is usually clean. For desktop wallpapers from landscape photos, the conversion is also clean. Cross-orientation conversions (landscape → phone or portrait → desktop) require either aggressive cropping or the use of AI Outpainting to extend the canvas. If you just want a desktop wallpaper from a landscape photo, you're already in good shape.
